Ms. Kuhn makes no claim to the content, yet enjoys the web quest enough to want her students to experience it as a hook before reading Richard Preston's novel, The Hot Zone.  ~Thanks to the original author, whoever s/he may be!  :0)

Background Information

Nawa and Dddilm (Delm) were married on the February 1, 1979 and spent their honeymoon on one of the ships of United Afrikan Cruises which travel around the coast of Africa. One of the docking ports of the cruise is called Port Elizabeth located on the South Coast. At Port Elizabeth, the newlyweds began to explore a quaint town near the dock where they noticed caged monkeys being taken off a nearby ship. These monkeys were being shipped all over the world for use in biological research. They decide to take a nature walk in the forest. While walking Dddilm gets bitten by a small unknown creature. They think nothing of this bite at the time since it looks small and does not seem to be distracting.

The couple returns to the boat at the dock. That night, while enjoying a fruit cocktail at the bar in the lounge, they meet a woman named Colonel Janice Walker. Colonel Walker works for the United States Center for Health and Human Services and is currently on assignment investigating the Rain Forest in South Africa, and the possibility of finding useful pharmaceuticals in the plants that grow there.

Now YOU, as the reader, can choose to continue on a journey with either the newlywed couple, the ship with the caged monkeys, or with Colonel Walker. Which do you choose?

CHOOSE WISELY!!!
