Mike Horan

Mike Horan has been with the district since 1989. He is a former elementary classroom teacher and district Tech Facilitator. Past accomplishments include being recognized as the Gocio Teacher of the Year, authoring Sarasota's first awarded state retrofit grant, authoring over $1.5 million dollars in district received grants, and being an invited author of the Florida Technology Plan. Mike oversees the management of the TeXcellence program. He lives in Sarasota with his wife Mary Ann and their two kids, Riley and Mike.

Alina Klein
TeXcellence Program Manager


     Alina Klein was hired as the TeXcellence program coordinator in April of 2007. A native Sarasotan, Alina graduated from one of Sarasota's district schools and went on to pursue a bachelor of science degree at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. Alina brings to the program her experience working with community-based programs. While in Miami, she founded an organization for young women and participated in awareness-raising campaigns for homelessness in the greater Miami area. Alina is happy to be working on such a great program in her hometown, helping to ensure that access to technology is equal amongst Sarasota County students!
